Daughter of David Carter and Lois Silvester, she married John Cheslyn and had four children. She was born in Wolstanton, Staffordshire in 1896, and died in Birmingham in 1972.

Mystery Monday – Carter, Herbert or David?

This handsome young fellow is one of my grandmothers brothers. Two of her brothers, Herbert and David Carter, became policemen, and this is one of them. Sadly we don’t know which one. I don’t know if I could manage to read his collar badge, and then maybe trace him that way.

William Huntingdon Carter was born in Thornton Hough, Cheshire, UK on 18 June 1843. His parents were Samuel Carter and Hannah Huntingdon.
